July 20, 2010

I am now 22 years old, as of yesterday. I'm also less than a week away from being 6 months pregnant. How time flies, eh? Yes, I said 'eh', and yes, I am Canadian. And no, there is no such thing as 'Canadian bacon' up here. Our bacon is the same as your bacon, and our ham is the same as your ham. My brain may be going off on a bit of a tangent.

I'm on vacation this week, I return to work on Saturday. Ugh. Yesterday was amazing, I felt more like myself than I have since I started working there. That's food for thought. That place makes me stressed and miserable, so I don't think I'll be returning after my maternity leave. Speaking of maternity leave, I have my doctor's appointment on the 27th of this month. I'll be pushing to be put off on sick leave, because the conditions that I'm forced to work in there are ridiculous. I need at least five of us on shift to be able to run breaks, I'm lucky when I have four of us. And guess who is always the one who has to forfeit her break because she's the manager on duty? It's also way too hot back in the prep area where I have to be. Our air conditioner doesn't work properly and can't compete with the heat from our appliances, and of course, there's no money in the budget for a new one. Our dining room hits up to 94 degrees, and that has nothing to increase the heat. Where I am has four fryers, seven warmers, two high heat toasters, and I have to run around to grab everything to prepare the food. So, take the 94 degrees in the dining room and add on 10+ degrees to get the temperature where I am. No air conditioner, no fan, no windows, no ventilation, can't sit, can't slow down, can't eat, can't take bathroom breaks so can't drink a lot, and can't take breaks. Ridiculous and dangerous. If one more person says "I can't take this anymore! I don't know how you can!", I think I'll agree with them and walk out. Probably not, but it'd make a nice statement.

So, now that I've babbled about work for a while, I'll go check the progress on my uploading chapter pictures. Only 70%, so maybe I should babble some more? Hm... Oh! We found out that I'm having a little baby girl, that we're naming Kelita. She's starting to move around all the time, but she doesn't kick a whole lot, thankfully. Up to 77% now...

I'm thinking about redesigning some aspects on this site. We'll see how that goes. I started playing the trial version of WoW a couple days ago. I can only play for about an hour at a time before my attention span goes down the drain. Don't know if I'll be continuing to play or not.

WOO! Baby Kelita! lol, what'll you tell her when she asks where she got her name? :D

And wow! 104 degrees? That's rather high Blue! I hope you can find a way to colaborate your way through it! You definately have more patience than I do! I probably would've quit the first day xD. But annyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope you have a great one :)

congratulations on the pregnancy! I'm anxiously awaiting the next chapter of Lunes! I absolutely love your legacy. I've started my own, and I'm on the third generation kiddos. But anyways, I'll keep checking in for updates!

Re: July 20, 2010

hey, i just recently came across your legacy and i just wanted to say it is AMAZING compared to some of the random messes people have made trying to make a legacy work. Congrats on the birthday and the pregnancy. I myself, have a 16 month old son, so I know how tough stuff can be trying to play being pregnant and soon with a baby, so i hope you continue to write, at least somehow finish off if you're forced into retirement, but it has been an amazing read. your pictures are also amazing. as for the working conditions, i went thru the same thing when i was pregnant, minus the heat aspect, mine was reversed, it was dead cold [i was due in april] most of my pregnancy and was told i couldn't wear a sweat shirt while the teenagers were wearing those and giant hoodies. lovely. and no bathroom breaks for me either and when i was forced to take them, i was threatened with being fired. my advice is to beg for maternity leave now, or kick that job to the curb. it can't be worth it. well, as i said, good luck with the new motherhood, enjoy every minute. they grow up so fast. i'll be hoping for another chapter if you're able, take care of yourself and your lovely named baby. :)
